Foot-powered irrigation pumps are useful but limited. Diesel pumps are expensive. Solar-powered pumps could be an answer.

A farmer uses a foot pump to irrigate his crops in Mwingi, Kenya. Foot pumps are useful in areas where electricity is unavailable but still have a limited capacity. Solar-powered irrigation pumps, such as one being developed by SunWater, could greatly increase crop yields.
