Why I believe Virginia Governor Northam should not resign: Few days after election of the state of Virginia, Nov. 7, 2018 I did receive an email from the new Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam titled: From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Karim These elections were about the character of our county --- Im proud that Virginians once again rejected the politics of division that are tearing our country apart. Weve elected leaders wholl fight for every Virginian, regardless of who they are or where they are or where they come from and work together with everyone to do whats best for the commonwealth. I do have to confess I never met or shook hands with the Governor let alone having any correspondence with his office. The multicultural State of Virginia is a swing state & Gov. Northam being a consummate politician has realized that; I am sure was not the only minority which received that letter. The revelation that Gov. Northam appeared in blackface during his Medical training in 1984 which Gov. was quick to apologize & condemn the person with the black face which we found out was not him, also brought a quick call for his resignation by the politicians without a due process. We live in a poisonous atmosphere which doesnt measure morality against any standard of time. It took 100 years, 1918 -2018 to make lynching a federal crime. It been more than 50 years since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, are we supposed to use the same 100 years as standard to change our perception about our 35 years ago bullying or raw racism and not use the conduct or behavior of that individual for the same period in our judgment.?. Some of Governor Northams first year accomplishments are: Medicaid expansion. Amazons decision for the great many high paying jobs. Decision by the Virginia Tech to open a new Tech campus in Northern Virginia investing $1,000,000,000.00 Change in criminal justice to help the poor & the disadvantage people Governor Northam has promised to focus on racial reconciliation for the remainder of his term.
